Ret. Captain Ronel Brown

A native Louisvillian,  Ronel A. Brown Sr., is a 1973 graduate of Shawnee High School.  He attended Kentucky State University and entered the workforce shortly afterwards. He acquired a Welders Certification from Jefferson Vocational Trade School and was hired at Jeff Boats Ship Yard as a welder.  He also worked for L&N Railroad, now known as CSX, as a welder repairing freight cars. After several years working for the railroad CSX closed their shops and moved to Florida enabling him to find employment with Stone Containers - a corrugated box company where he worked as a Machine Operator.

Brown then decided to make another career change, after a life in Labor and applied himself for a firefighter position in the Louisville Division of Fire. During his firefighting career he married his wife Denise, and now has three children and a grandson. Capt. Brown retired from the LFD at the rank of Captain, Public Information Officer and he currently works for Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) as an ECE Instructional Assistant, at DuPont Manual High School, working directly with students with Autism.

Ronel is a lifelong Democrat with a strong labor background. He’s seeking the 29th District Seat, Kentucky State House of Representative. He will fight for working families taking every opportunity to repeal the Right to Work law and strengthening collective bargaining, protecting pension promises, advocating for quality education, economic growth and affordable healthcare. Kentuckians don’t need lawmakers dictating advocating the lawmakers agenda; they want lawmakers listening to their concerns and advocating on their behalf.
